Ups and Downs

There is a cliche floating around out there about life being "full of up and downs." Well, that is true.

The Christian faith illustrates such times in life as the "mountaintops and the valleys" or the "seasons of testing and the seasons of rest."

I guess, what I am thinking about is how the Holy Spirit offers us the "best of both worlds," so to speak. Peace during turbulent seasons and storms and safe passage through the valleys of life. Rest for the weary under persecution comes through the Holy Spirit and so does wisdom to navigate the path from the mountaintop to the valley and back again.

So, the question is why do I still keep trying to overcome, pressuring myself into impossible expectations and succumbing to my own weak-minded insecurities? Thank goodness, God knew this about me before we got here - Today is so much easier as I realize He is always and will ever be in control. His plans for me are good, they prosper and do not harm me - They give me a future and HOPE.

"I lift my eyes up to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord Maker of heaven and earth...." Psalm 121

  2. Amen to that, my sister! What would we do without our Faithful Shepherd???

Oh yes, those "traits" you questioned, I believe they are called "HUMAN!" It is so true; today is SO much easier when we depend on and trust God to lead us in the way.

And the "seasons of rest;" ever notice how they "happen" to occur not long before the more difficult and trying seasons?

Isn't is SO awesome how our Father nurtures, strengthens, fills, equips, and prepares us in the "easy" country for the climbs, forgings and crossings ahead of us? Through all the various dangers ... He helps us make it to the next hill/mountaintop ... and there ... He has a lush banquet, (with a view, no less) waiting to refresh US! Of course, from the high places, we can also see the descent into the next valley....

Such is this precious thing called life!

Thank you for pondering this point on your blog - your posts always make me reflect on our Lord's character and how He much He loves us! Your blog name is VERY fitting!

  3. Thank you, thank you for the precious comments. God is speaking to me today.

Sometimes I wonder why He takes me back, over and over again, to the same verse of Scripture... Then I realize... OH, It's because He's preparing me for a new journey and I need it... That's Why!

    Love you guys.
